Applicants should be full-time journalists who cover business and have a supervisor’s approval to attend.

Preference will be given to those attending all four sessions of the “Become a Multimedia Business Journalist” track being offered before, during and after the SABEW Conference at no additional charge by the Reynolds Center. Other criteria for selection include being unable to attend without such financial support and having a plan for sharing what you learn with your colleagues.

To apply, e-mail the following by 5 p.m. EST March 1:

*       A 250-word statement describing how attending the conference will improve your coverage and what your plan is to share what you learn with your colleagues.
*       A statement of support from your supervisor. (Waived for freelancers.)
*       A resume.
*       A headshot photo.
*       A one-paragraph bio.

The SABEW Conference is at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, which is also the home of the Reynolds Center.

The first multimedia session – “Produce a Business News Video in a Day” – is before the conference on March 18. Other hands-on sessions are “How to Look Natural On Air” on March 19, “Produce a Business News Podcast” on March 20 and “Take Compelling Business News Photos” on March 21. No previous video experience or equipment is required, although you can bring your own camera and audio recorder if you like.
