Research Director –Crain’s Chicago Business

Crain’s Chicago Business seeks a Research Director to oversee all aspects of its research operation. Responsibilities include preparation of all lists and other data projects for Crain’s in print and online; supervising one full-time staffer and a number of contract workers and interns that varies over the course of the year; negotiating contracts with data providers, including pricing terms; conceiving and executing new lists and research projects in collaboration with editors and reporters.

This job requires strong journalism background, in-depth knowledge of business and financial concepts, project planning and management skills, experience creating new online products, ability to use social media and other online resources to gather information, familiarity with and ability to use research databases. Ideal candidate must have a minimum of five years of research experience, preferably working on a fast-paced, news-based publication, and have worked with both online and print.  College degree in journalism, communications or related fields required.
