Next teletraining Thursday: How to cover small business in a big way

Posted By Cody Shotwell

When:

Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Central, 11 a.m. to noon Pacific)

Small, private companies are the backbone of local economies. But they’re often harder to cover because they aren’t required to disclose financial documents and they’re sometimes less comfortable dealing with the media. Find out how to dig up information on these companies, learn fresh approaches to covering small firms, and hear about some of the trends that are impacting small business. Whether you cover small business full-time or write about it only occasionally, SABEW’s panel discussion can help.

Moderator:

Chris Roush, Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Scholar in business journalism at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

  • Dan Beyers, editor of The Washington Post’s new weekly Capital Business section
