SABEW 2012 donation campaign winds down

Posted By eselgroth

SABEW welcomes personal and corporate donations to help fund its busy schedule of training and education activities as the end of the fiscal year nears.

The donation is tax deductible.

The money we raise will support our programs to support business journalism.  We consider it our fund for the future.

You can give by visiting the Donate page of our website, which will securely accept your Amex, VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit card information.  You can also give via PayPal.

Or you can send a check made out to “Society of American Business Editors and Writers” to: SABEW, c/o Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University, 555 N. Central Ave., Suite 302, Phoenix AZ 85004.

SABEW conducts an aggressive schedule of training:
* We do monthly distance learning calls on skills issues and hot topics.
* We have multi-day spring and fall conferences at which we feature keynote speakers and skills sessions.
* We feature workshops and seminars several times per year in conjunction with the Commonwealth Fund on the Business of Healthcare.
* In 2012, we conducted four special workshops on investigative reporting.  Our Drilling Deep series, sponsored by The Ethics and Excellence in Journalism.

We’re appealing to you at a time when our media industry is still in flux.  We’re fighting the effects of a lingering recession and want to best position ourselves for 2013, as we celebrate 50 years of service to business journalism.

We have options if you choose to make SABEW part of your personal giving.  Just designate if you would like your donation to go to directly to one of these funds.

·      Our David Morrow Fund is used for scholarships to our annual conferences, one in the spring, the other in the fall. Our spring conference will be in Washington, D.C., April 4-6, 2013.
·      Our Benita Newton Fund is designated for our efforts in promoting diversity in our activities.
·      Our Gary Klott Fund is earmarked for our work in promoting good ethics in business journalism.
·      Or simply give to our fund for the future as described above.

Thanks for your support of SABEW.

— Warren Watson is executive director of SABEW.
