Special to SABEW
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A special gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers will conclude the group’s annual spring conference April 6 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel.
The gala, a fundraiser that will include dinner, benefit auction, history moments and a guest speaker, will be the highlight of the April 4-6 SABEW conference program in the nation’s capital.
The Saturday-night event will feature special table sales, said Lacey Clements, SABEW’s marketing director. Companies can reserve a table of 10 for $1,450. Individual tickets are also available for $150. The cost of attending the gala is included in the full conference ticket price.
Kai Ryssdal, the popular host of Public Radio’s Marketplace radio program, will be the master of ceremonies.
Eugene Miller, the last remaining founding member of SABEW, will receive a President’s Award for his decades of service. Also to be honored is Myron Kandel, who served as the organization’s president in 1976 and 1996. He is SABEW’s only two-time president.
Clements said SABEW is seeking sponsors for the gala program. Reuters will host the reception, which includes a silent auction, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The gala itself begins at 7 p.m.
