Job Description: The Knoxville News Sentinel, a midsize daily located in the heart of Appalachian mountain country, is looking for a business editor. The person who gets this busy, high-profile job can expect to lead a staff in print, online and breaking business news coverage. Our East Tennessee region includes about 15 counties. Major organizations we cover include the Tennessee Valley Authority, Pilot Flying J, Regal Entertainment Group, Bush Brothers & Co., Ruby Tuesday Inc., Scripps Networks Interactive, and H.T. Hackney. We are smack in the middle of a significant tourism region. The Smokies, the Big South Fork recreation area and Dollywood are just some of our area attractions. The business editor oversees a staff of three writers and an assistant business editor who produce six daily business sections a week, including Sunday. The business editor also works with News Sentinel metro news editors and the editor of the Greater Knoxville Business Journal in coordinating coverage. The job also entails lists for the News Sentinel’s Book of Lists, which highlights various aspects of area employers.
