The federal government has gotten back to work after the fall shutdown, but that doesn’t mean the nation’s budget issues have been resolved. Negotiations continue. And if a deal isn’t reached, the government could face another partial shutdown in mid-January and will reach its debt ceiling again in February. Where are we now? Where are we headed?   • Jodi Schneider, Bloomberg. Jodi is the Congress team leader in Bloomberg News’ Washington bureau. She previously worked as the Community Banking Editor in the Washington bureau at The American Banker and served as director of training and recruiting and as economics and finance editor at Congressional Quarterly. Earlier in her career, Jodi served as assistant managing editor at U.S. News & World Report and as local business editor at The Washington Post.


  • Paul M. Krawzak, CQ Roll Call. Paul covers the budget and fiscal policy for CQ Roll Call, where he has worked since 2009. Among other topics, he has reported on President Obama’s first budget, the 2009 stimulus legislation, Paul Ryan’s budget plans, the Simpson-Bowles Commission, the deficit reduction talks between the White House and Congress in 2011, the Budget Control Act and the super committee deliberations. Prior to joining CQ, Krawzak was a regional reporter at the Copley News Service Washington Bureau, where he covered the Ohio Congressional delegation, the steel industry and business. He also served as Pentagon correspondent for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
