Longtime SABEW Board Member Elizabeth Whitney dies

WhitneyRenowned journalist, Elizabeth Whitney, died Tuesday. Whitney was the first female business editor at a major U.S. newspaper, the then-St. Petersburg Times. She was both an influential and exceptional reporter and editor to the journalism community. Whitney had a distinguished career of reporting and editing staying devoted to business-related news. She served on SABEW’s Board of Governors from 1984-1989. In SABEW’s April 1990 monthly publication, Whitney expressed her passion for serving on the board of SABEW. “I enjoyed being a part of SABEW really more than any professional organization I was ever in — and I’ve been in quite a few. I’ve enjoyed the people. I’ve enjoyed the meetings, and I’m sorry it has to end,” said Whitney. Read more here.
