Job Description

The Arizona Commerce Authority seeks to hire a senior regulatory/business climate research analyst for a new team focused on assessing Arizona’s competitiveness. The senior analyst will conduct detailed and nuanced research regarding policies, regulations and general topics that affect businesses. The analyst will need to succinctly communicate findings to leadership and sales professionals. The focus will be on Arizona and other states we compete with for projects. This is for someone with some professional experience who is goal-oriented and eager to learn about a wide range of topics. This is a full-time, salaried position, with benefits and professional development opportunities.

Job Qualifications

  • Top notch verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to explain complex material to a wide range of audiences in straight-forward and simple (but not oversimplified) terms is paramount
  • The ability to develop systems for tracking large quantities of information, systems that work not just for the person maintaining them, but for the organization. Also, the self-discipline to maintain data and information routinely
  • The ability to work quickly, under deadline pressure, sometimes on multiple projects in the same day—while maintaining high standards for data accuracy, process consistency and presentation quality
  • The ability to work collaboratively but also the skills, experience, and comfort to carry a project from beginning to end largely independently
  • Very advanced Excel skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Professional experience researching business regulations and/or government policies
  • Comfort in being part of a new team, including comfort with iterative processes and processes changing as they develop and no two workdays being quite the same
  • The desire to be part of a collaborative, informal, low-drama, team culture
