- Judges’ comments – This in-depth look at global warming’s effect on ocean life was well reported and written. The multimedia presentation was graphically intense. The series goes beneath the surface of the sea for its examination of what’s going on in that 70 percent of our world. Could the dramatic effects on sea creatures be a preview of what will face humans if we don’t make dramatic changes now?

- Judges’ comments – Excellent example of multiple newsrooms combining resources on a timely and important topic — the rising health, safety and economic risks of the new U.S. oil and gas boom and the need for regulations. The writing was clear and the presentation compelling. It was a strong group effort that played to the strengths of each news organization.
