The Gary Klott Memorial Ethics Symposium started in 2013 in honor of of Gary Kott, who is credited with getting SABEW to expand its tough this guidelines for business journalist. This ethics symposium was merged into the SABEW spring conference programming starting in 2015.
At the time of his death in 2002 at the age of 52, Klott was a widely syndicated tax-advice columnist and ran a tax information website he founded. Previously, he was a business writer for United Press International and The New York Times. He also wrote three books, including “The New York Times Complete Guide to Personal Investing” in 1987.
