Joanna Ossinger of Bloomberg to be next SABEW President; Wall Street Journal’s Glenn Hall added to executive ladder

ossinger_webNov. 11, 2014 – Joanna Ossinger, an editor with Bloomberg News, has been named president-elect of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the largest association of business journalists.

Ossinger, currently Treasurer, will take over at the conclusion of SABEW’s annual conference in Chicago, April 23-25, 2015, and will serve a one-year term. She has been at Bloomberg for five years, and is currently the top-page editor for Bloomberg’s First Word product. Previously, Ossinger worked at the Wall Street Journal, Fox Business Network and TheStreet.com. She has a BA from Cornell University and a master’s from Georgetown University, and is a native of Colorado.

Glenn Hall, a member of SABEW’s Board of Governors and national editor of the Wall Street Journal, will become Treasurer at conclusion of the annual conference, putting him on the executive ladder to become President in 2017.

Cory Schouten, managing editor of the Indianapolis Business Journal, is in line to become President in 2016.

David Milstead, vice president, announced he will resign from the board effective April 23, 2015, for the best of all possible family reasons: His wife is expecting their third child.

The executive ladder changes were approved unanimously by the Board of Governors at its Oct. 9 meeting in New York.

“These changes to the executive ladder put SABEW’s future in strong hands,” said SABEW President Marty Wolk.

“Joanna and Glenn have showed their dedication to SABEW through many years of service, and they represent two of the world’s finest and most prestigious publishers of business journalism,” Wolk said. “On behalf of the board, I also want to thank David for his many years of service to SABEW. I know he will continue to offer his wise counsel and serve SABEW as a member. With these changes, and with the recent addition of Kathleen Graham as our new executive director, SABEW is poised for growth in the years ahead.”
