PHOENIX — A special minority scholarship is being made available for the annual SABEW spring conference March 27-29.
The cash award will be for $750. It includes a full registration to the conference.
“So, the winner will have $750 to play with, for hotel and airfare. It will enable someone to get to Phoenix for our big show,” said Warren Watson, executive director.
The award honors Benita Newton, a young reporter who died in 2005, while in her first year of her first business journalism position at the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va.
The scholarship will be for a minority candidate. The deadline for application is March 3, 2014.
Interested candidates should mail a resume and a 50-word cover note to Warren Watson, executive director, in care of SABEW, 555 North Central, Phoenix, AZ 85004. The application can be emailed to watson@sabew.org.
