A group of Canadian journalists launched SABEW Canada, SABEW’s first international chapter, in 2014. It now has more than 250 members, among them reporters and editors from The Globe and Mail, Bloomberg, Financial Post, The Canadian Press, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Logic and more. SABEW Canada’s mission is to define and inspire excellence in business journalism, including by hosting educational events, training sessions and networking events where business journalists can make new connections and be part of a community of colleagues and friends. SABEW Canada also hosts its prestigious Best in Business Awards competition.

Lisa Hannam
As the editor-in-chief at Neo Financial, Lisa Hannam launched the Canadian personal finance magazine and newsletter The Get in 2025. Previously she was the EIC of MoneySense, a legacy magazine covering saving and budgeting to home buying and DIY investing. Lisa has an extensive journalism background as an acclaimed writer and editor, spanning over 20 years, working for some of Canada’s largest glossy magazines, daily newspapers and popular websites.
Laura Hensley
Laura Hensley is an award-winning journalist who has worked for some of Canada’s largest media brands, including Corus, Postmedia, Rogers Communications and St. Joseph Communications. She currently works as a senior writer at TD and as a journalism instructor at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her work has appeared in outlets including Canadian Business, The Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Life, Chatelaine, The Walrus, and Best Health Magazine.
Anita Balakrishnan
Anita Balakrishnan has been a Toronto-based reporter for five years at The Logic, a Canadian tech and business news publication. She has previously held business reporter and editor roles at The Canadian Press, Thomson Reuters’ Law Times, and CNBC.com, and was a Dow Jones News Fund intern at USA Today Business. She has a master's degree in business and economic reporting from New York University and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Denver.
Justin Dallaire
Justin Dallaire is a digital editor with The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. Before joining the Globe, he was senior editor at personal finance magazine MoneySense, and a reporter and editor at marketing magazine Strategy. He has a master’s degree in journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University.
Christine Dobby
Christine Dobby is an award-winning journalist who covers finance and banking for Bloomberg News in Toronto and writes the weekly email newsletter Bay Street Edition. She has reported on Canadian business since 2010 and has held staff positions at the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail and Financial Post. Christine has a history degree from McGill University, a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and practised family law before pursuing a masters in journalism at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Clarrie Feinstein
Clarrie Feinstein is a business reporter at Toronto Star, where she currently covers the real estate market. Prior to joining the Star, Clarrie was a reporter at Metroland and Business Insider. She earned her master's in journalism at the Aurthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University.
April Fong
April Fong is Deputy Editor, Personal Finance for The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business section. She was previously Executive Editor of The Logic, where she led its daily newsletter to multiple SABEW Best in Business awards and was a frequent moderator in live journalism events.
A former senior digital producer at BNN Bloomberg, April has also worked at the Financial Post and China Economic Review in Shanghai. She taught Business Reporting at her alma mater, Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication from 2021 to 2024.
Catherine McIntyre
Catherine is a business reporter at The Logic, where she’s been covering the innovation economy since the publication launched in 2018. She previously worked for Maclean’s and Canadian Business. Her reporting has earned top prizes from SABEW Canada and the National Magazine Awards.
Ana Pereira
Ana Pereira is a business reporter covering economics and financial services for the Toronto Star, Canada's largest online news site. Before joining the Star in 2023, Ana completed an internship with Bloomberg News, worked as a chase producer at BNN Bloomberg and spent a summer with the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
Rosa Saba
Rosa Saba is a digital editor at The Globe and Mail. She was previously business reporter at the Canadian Press and at the Toronto Star, and is an organizer of mentorship and scholarship program Shared Bylines.
Paula Sambo
Paula Sambo is a reporter at Bloomberg News, currently covering deals, special situations and private markets. She has over two decades of experience in journalism and previously reported on emerging markets, credit, pension funds, billionaires, and served as a deputy team leader for corporate finance, helping manage a group of reporters and editors across the Americas. Her work has earned multiple honours, including Brazil’s Vladimir Herzog Award for journalists who excel in the coverage of human rights issues.
Renee Sylvestre-Williams
Renee Sylvestre-Williams is a finance and business journalist. Her work has been published in the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, Canadian Business and Canadian Family Offices. She also publishes a biweekly newsletter, The Budgette, where she talks to financial experts about money and single earners. She is the author of The Singles Tax: No-Nonsense Financial Advice for Solo Earners.

Bryan Borzykowski
Bryan Borzykowski is an award-winning business journalist who has written for the New York Times, CNBC, BBC, Forbes, Insider, Inc., the Washington Post and The Globe and Mail, among many other publications. He's also the author of several personal finance books, and regularly appears on CTV News and SiriuxXM. Bryan is the founder and editorial director of ALLCAPS Content, a branded content agency that works with companies in the financial, tech and healthcare sectors.
He helped launch SABEW Canada in 2014, serving as chair for several years. Bryan joined SABEW's board in 2015, and in 2019 became the organization's first (and so far only) non-U.S. president. He also serves as president of the board of the Canadian Jewish News.
Dawn Calleja
Dawn Calleja is the Editor of The Globe and Mail’s national Report on Business magazine, where she oversees a mix of long-form features, programs such as Women Lead Here and Canada’s Top Growing Companies, and more. She started her professional career as a reporter at Canadian Business, working her way up to senior editor.
After a stint as executive editor at Financial Post Magazine, she joined ROB in 2006. She has won numerous National Magazine Awards both as a writer and editor, and received The Globe and Mail’s George Brown Prize for Editing in 2020. She also helped launch SABEW Canada in 2014 along with Bryan Borzykowski and ran its prestigious Best in Business Canada awards program for eight years.
Sandra E. Martin
Sandra E. Martin is The Globe and Mail’s Standards Editor, a role that seeks to ensure The Globe’s journalism is of the highest quality and that the organization is accountable to readers.
Previously, she served as The Globe’s Head of Newsroom Development, as well as Editor-in-Chief of MoneySense. She has also been an instructor at Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Journalism.
A former Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Living, Sandra also is a two-time National Magazine Awards finalist, a repeat NMA judge, and a two-time NMA host.
