Meet the 2015 Student Newsroom team

Siyuan Du is a business reporter and videographer with Medill News Service. She graduated with a B.A. in Finance from Hunan University. And she is interested in retailing and derivatives. She also produces video story focusing on arts, cultures and business.

 

Andrew Fowler is a business reporter with an interest in European politics and economics. In March he was selected to take part of a press tour with the European Union. He has several years of experience as a freelance reporter for a newspaper in St. Louis, Missouri and has focused his recent reporting on video and web platforms.

 

Taylor Hall is a masters candidate at the Medill School of Journalism and a reporter at Medill News Service. She writes about public safety and national security. She holds an M.A. from the University of Chicago Divinity School, where she studied religion and the Middle East prior to starting her time at Medill.

 

Alysha Khan is a graduate student and Bloomberg Scholar at the Medill School of Journalism, concentrating in interactive storytelling and business journalism. She is interested in telling visually compelling and data driven business stories. She is also a freelancer in graphic designer and web production. Alysha grew up in sunny South Florida and routinely questions why she moved to the Windy City.

 

Brian MacIver is a sports reporter from Medill with an interest in the money behind the games. He is also a part of the Medill team that is covering the NFL Draft in Chicago. Hailing from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, his first business reporting experiences have been at Northwestern but he has taken the challenge head-on and has been thriving.

 

Lydia Ramsey is a senior at Medill majoring in journalism and Middle East & North African studies. At Northwestern, she has been involved with The Daily Northwestern as a copy editor, copy chief, web editor and managing editor. She spent the winter working at PopSci.com in New York writing articles and contributing to social media. She is interested in the intersection of science and business and the Middle East.

 

Lucy Ren is an aspiring business reporter who has covered topics ranging from monetary policy to hedge funds for Medill News Service. Originally from Shenzhen, China, she previously lived in Canada, where she earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from McGill University. Lucy reported on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for Chinese news website Tencent.

 

Ryan Sachetta is a business reporter and graduate journalism student at Northwestern University. This March, he visited European Union headquarters in Brussels, Belgium as a guest of the European Union Delegation. Ryan is looking forward to beginning a summer news internship at Bloomberg’s New York City bureau.

 

Meredith Wilson is a Bloomberg Scholar and masters candidate at the Medill School of Journalism. She covers municipal finance, budgets, pension and art markets for the Medill News Network. Prior to coming to Medill, she spent three years as a content producer for the Chicago Tribune and worked as a freelance reporter in Chicago and Boston.

 

Yimian Wu is a business reporter at Medill News Service. She writes about banking and entrepreneurship. She holds a M.S. in finance from DePaul University. Originally from China, she has been in Chicago for more than two years where she enjoys being an Airbnb host.

Jesse MillardJesse Millard, a junior in Multimedia Journalism and Business Journalism at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School, has interned at the Arizona Republic, Arizona PBS, AZ TechBeat and will be interning at the Phoenix Business Journal and BusinessJournalism.org. He enjoys writing about all kinds of business and technology, with investigative stories his longer-term goal.

 

Chloe NordquistChloe Nordquist, a junior in Multimedia Journalism and Business Journalism at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School, has skills in photography, videography, digital and lighting. She interned at Arizona PBS and Phoenix KTVK-TV, and now blogs for the Phoenix New Times and will be interning at the AZ TechBeat website.

 

Agnel PhilipAgnel Philip, a sophomore double major in Business Journalism and Economics at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School and WP Carey Business School, has skills in digital, print and photography. He especially likes writing enterprise stories and working with data, has interned at the Arizona Republic, and will be interning at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

 

Cassidy TrowbridgeCassidy Trowbridge, a sophomore in Business Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, has skills in digital, print and photography. She especially enjoys covering small business owners and technology innovations. She will be interning at Phoenix Business Journal on a Dow Jones News Fund fellowship.
