Mentorship Program for Students of Color

The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW), the foremost organization for business and economic journalism, is launching its second mentorship program aimed at students and young journalists of color. The program has been designed with a mission to increase diversity in our newsrooms.

Our mentorship program guides potential applicants toward an internship/fellowship/job or getting an article published.

Each student or young journalist who qualifies will be paired with a seasoned business journalist, who will mentor them, help with the process of applying for an internship, help polish a resume, prep for interviews, or help with pitching and provide tips on reporting and writing a story.

The student mentee form can be found here.

Several internships with fall deadlines are coming up in October and November: Fall 2021 Internship Deadlines. If you are a news outlet or a journalism organization and are interested in a pool of candidates of color for your internships, please send us a link to your application and drop us a line at sabew@sabew.org.
