SABEW calls on the President-elect to protect the First Amendment

The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) calls on Joe Biden on the eve of his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States to protect the First Amendment rights of journalists and the public.

SABEW and its members welcome a return to regular media briefings at the White House and federal agencies, and speedy fulfillment of Freedom of Information requests so that the American people have access to information in the public domain.

We also expect that the Biden Administration will protect the integrity of the data produced by the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis and other agencies (see footnote). This data is crucial to the decision-making of businesses, investors and the public.
