Last year had the most large corporate bankruptcy filings (of $50 million or more) since the Great Recession. This SABEW training session will help journalists understand and report on bankruptcies and debt — even if this isn’t their beat.
Attendees will learn the different types of bankruptcy filings, different types of debt, how to use the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) system, where to find corporate credit ratings for use in your reporting, and more.
The conversation will be moderated by Claire Boston, a team leader at Bloomberg News, where she oversees distressed debt and bankruptcy coverage for North America.
Panelists include:
- Maria Chutchian, bankruptcy reporter for Reuters
- Tom Hals, legal reporter for Reuters
- Alexander Saeedy, reporter with The Wall Street Journal’s Pro Bankruptcy team
