Gift SABEW a year-end, tax-deductible donation

Dear SABEW Friends,

There’s a little less than a month left in 2023, but it’s clear that some of the biggest business stories of the year will continue grabbing headlines in 2024. Will the U.S. slide into a recession? Is the Fed done raising rates? How will companies continue incorporating AI into their businesses? Will CEOs push forward with ESG or let it fade?

SABEW members dove into these topics and many, many more this year, doing the reporting that is critical to making sense of the world around us. And just like it has for nearly 60 years, SABEW helped equip members through a number of events, including:

  • Skill Up, which once again brought together journalists and students at The Wall Street Journal’s New York headquarters to hear about finding scoops, employing data and much more
  • Goldschmidt data fellowships in Washington D.C., including a trip to the Federal Reserve, and in St. Louis at the St. Louis Federal Reserve bank

Of particular importance this year, SABEW’s First Amendment Committee advocated for the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and will continue to do so until he comes home.

SABEW also helped women and journalists of color advance their careers through the Xana Fellowship and Sho Fund.

In total through mid-November, 600 journalists increased their skills and knowledge through virtual training sessions; 205 SABEW members were honored for excellence in business journalism; and 76 fellowship opportunities were provided. More than 2,300 journalists participated in SABEW programs and awards competitions in 2023. In addition, this calendar year 54 students wrote for the College Connect blog, describing their experiences managing money and credit.

SABEW’s mission of supporting reporters, editors, producers and others involved in pursuing the highest standards of economic journalism and encouraging deep, thoughtful reporting of economic events remains vital. We need your help to continue this mission.

On behalf of Executive Director Stephanie Klimstra and myself, I ask you to consider a year-end, tax-deductible donation. Donations will help support training events, fellowships, webinars, networking, and resources throughout the year. You can donate by clicking here or by mailing a check to SABEW, 555 N. Central Ave, Suite 302, Phoenix, AZ 85004. If you prefer to use your mobile device, you can text “SABEW23” to 53555 and donate via the online mobile-friendly form.

If your company matches charitable contributions, please also apply for the match. Thank you for your support, membership and generosity.

We wish you a healthy and happy holiday season, and a peaceful 2024.
