FRED Advanced Data Workshop in St. Louis

Apply to be a Goldschmidt FRED Fellow and attend an in-person advanced data workshop in St. Louis Nov. 3-4, 2025. Journalists chosen to be a Fellow will have the opportunity to:

• Visit the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to learn about economic data.
• Discover how to graph differing types of FRED data.
• Learn about new data releases.
• Explore data and special reports that can help you create new stories.
• Hear from speakers who will discuss how they take the pulse of the American economy, feed that information to the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and influence interest rate decisions.
• This year speakers will seek input from participants with topics of interest.

Fellows will attend an opening reception at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 with a full-day workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 4. All fellows, except those who live in the St. Louis area, will be provided two nights lodging (Monday and Tuesday night) at the Embassy Suites, about a five-minute walk from the bank. Any travel is at the expense of the attendee. Most meals are included. (If your workplace can also pay for hotel, do let us know on the application.)

All applicants must be current SABEW members. Applications are due by Monday, Sept. 22 by 5 p.m. ET.

The workshop is funded by a grant to SABEW from the Walter and Karla Goldschmidt Foundation and organized by Marty Steffens, SABEW chair at the University of Missouri. The St. Louis Federal Reserve will be supplying much of the content.
