Mining court dockets to investigate big business

Every good cops or courts reporter knows how lawsuits work, but far too many business reporters never learn how to properly read a legal docket to uncover the immense treasure buried within. This session will discuss how to approach a court docket from an investigative perspective: what kinds of motions generally yield the best documents, the ins and outs of discovery and protective orders, how to read the posture of a civil case and use it to get sources talking, and more.
