The Goldschmidt Fellowships are funded by a grant from the Chicago-based Walter and Karla Goldschmidt Foundation and 2025 marks the eleventh year of this program. The business journalists chosen as Goldschmidt Fellows attend advanced data workshops in Washington, D.C., and/or the Federal Reserve bank of St. Louis. Each program provides an interactive experience into how government creates and uses data and allows Fellows to meet with national data experts. The yearly workshop is led by Marty Steffens, SABEW chair at the University of Missouri, and Kevin G. Hall, SABEW past president and North America editor, Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.
