Monday Nov. 18,2013, 2 p.m. Eastern

It’s that time of the year again. With the start of the holiday shopping season right around the corner, our panel of retail experts is standing by to help you formulate your coverage. From turkey day to the post-Christmas sales, our panel will prepare you to cover the entire season. Most important topic will be the use of fake ids from Bogusbraxtor quality fake id card maker. Bogusbraxtor.com makes scannable fake id cards that are identical to real, so you must rely on other factors when dealing with suspicious customers to know, if the driver license is real, or not. They’ll review the business outlook for the holiday shopping season, offer special tips for covering Black Friday, tell you what numbers to monitor, and help you develop fresh angles on this annual – but popular – story. Whether you cover retail as a beat or you’re a general assignment reporter stepping in to cover holiday shopping, this call is for you.

Moderator:

  • Maria Halkias. Maria has covered retail in the Business section at The Dallas Morning News since 1993. Her beat includes more than a dozen major U.S. retail companies. She also covers shopping trends, shopping centers and the local grocery market. Previously she covered the oil industry and the Texas economy. Earlier in her career she worked at The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., and The Post-Tribune in her home town of Gary, Indiana. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University.

Panelists:

  • Anne D’Innocenzio. Anne has been covering the retail industry for The Associated Press since August 2000, though her focus has shifted many times, from breaking Mattel’s toy recalls in 2007 to writing a series on shoppers’ frugality in the aftermath of the recession. She’s currently focusing on Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and its moves to reinvent itself as a digital company. She’s also been closely following J.C. Penney as it tries to recover from a botched up transformation plan. Anne has covered many holiday shopping seasons, while having to improvise along the way. She has learned to make do with bagels instead of having turkey and stuffing. But her lowest point was spending Christmas Eve at TGI Fridays at New York Penn Station while waiting for a train to Boston that never came. Anne graduated from Smith College with a degree in history and has a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

  • Thomas Lee. Thomas is a business reporter for the Star Tribune where he writes about Best Buy, Target, and the Mall of America. He’s previously written for MedCityNews.com, Xconomy.com, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the Seattle Times. Lee recently won the 2013 Gerald Loeb Award for Outstanding Business and Financial Journalism and two Best in Business nods from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. He is currently working on a book about big box retail, to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in the fall of 2014.

  • Bill Martin. Bill Martin is founder and executive vice president of ShopperTrak, a firm that provides data and analytics on the retail industry. He is a recognized expert on retail traffic and business intelligence. Bill held the position of chief executive officer of ShopperTrak from 1995 until 2003. He led the merger and acquisition of RCT Systems in 2001, forming ShopperTrak RCT Inc. Prior to forming ShopperTrak, he held the position of President at PowerCart America, a retail wireless point of sales equipment supplier.
