Four Governors elected to the SABEW Board
Robert Barba, politics editor at WNYC/Gothamist, was installed as the new president of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) during its annual conference on May 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City.
“SABEW and its members have inspired me and propelled my career, and I’m honored to lead the organization at such a critical moment,” said Barba. “With rising costs, geopolitical instability and the massive job changes brought by AI, now more than ever we are reminded that every story is a business story. SABEW is ready to help journalists everywhere tell those stories.”
In addition to Barba, SABEW’s 2026-2027 officer ladder is comprised of Vice President Kelli Grant, CFP®, senior personal finance editor, CNBC, and Secretary/Treasurer Mark DeCambre, editor in chief at MarketWatch/Dow Jones.

SABEW members elected four people to the board:
Rebecca Baker, editor at large, Bloomberg Industry Group
Alexis Sobel Fitts, senior editor for technology and media, The Washington Post
Cara Lombardo, Wall Street editor, The Wall Street Journal
Dean Murphy, senior editor for enterprise, The New York Times
SABEW, the largest association of business journalists, encourages comprehensive and ethical reporting without fear or favoritism and to increase members’ skills and knowledge through continuous education.
