  • Contest has record 904 entries
  • Complete winner lists, original March 18 contest release follow

PHOENIX, March 21 – Thirty-two additional awards were announced today in the Best in Business competition conducted by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW).

Those winners came from 11 categories affected by technical difficulties associated with new electronic contest software that digitized the entry and judging processes.

In all, there were 200 winners in 76 categories in the 16th annual contest, established in 1995 to set standards and recognize role models in business journalism. One hundred sixty eight winners were announced Friday.

With the additional honors, Bloomberg News captured the most awards overall with 23.  The New York Times was second with 11 awards. GlobalPost was next with 10 awards.

The competition attracted a record number of 904 entries, surpassing the previous record of 862 entries in 2008.

The awards will be presented Saturday, April 9, at the 48th annual SABEW conference at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Members or guests can register for the conference on SABEW.org, or call SABEW at 602-496-7862. Hotel rooms are still available.
