Joanna Ossinger of Bloomberg News takes the helm at SABEW; eight elected to the Board of Governors

PHOENIX-Joanna Ossinger, an editor for Bloomberg News, was installed as the new president of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW), the largest association of business journalists, at its annual conference last week in Chicago. Ossinger succeeds Marty Wolk, assigning editor at NerdWallet.

“SABEW is a great organization with a bright future, and I’m honored to be the new president,” Ossinger said. “Our priorities for the year will include boosting our value to members via networking events and workshops that will provide even more training opportunities.”

In addition to Ossinger, SABEW’s officer ladder includes; Cory Schouten, Indianapolis Business Journal, vice president; Glenn Hall, The Wall Street Journal, treasurer; and Mark Hamrick, Bankrate, secretary.

Ballots were cast in the online election for eight additional seats on the SABEW Board of Governors.

  • Bryan Borzykowski, freelance
  • Shobhana Chandra, Bloomberg News

Upcoming SABEW events include the fall conference at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism, the spring conference in Washington, D.C. and the 2015 Best in Business Awards.
