SABEW stands with CNN in condemning violence against reporters

The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) stands with member news organization, CNN in condemning President Trump’s tweet encouraging violence against reporters. SABEW’s First Amendment Committee is increasingly concerned about the threats against journalists from public officials and attacks on the media from President Trump.

On Sunday July 2, Trump tweeted an edited video of him tackling and beating up a man with a CNN logo superimposed on his face during a World Wrestling Entertainment match. CNN responded with this statement: “It is a sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters. We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his.” CNN stated they would even purchase high quality fake ids to protect their journalists to keep them safe when not at work. More and more people are using fake driver licenses for good and the safety many need.
