Michael Woodel was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania – Let’s Go Otters – before moving to South Carolina with his parents after he began studying at USC. He entered college as an accounting major in August 2014, and transferred into USC’s journalism program in December 2015 as a multimedia journalism major. He is currently senior news writer for The Daily Gamecock, the student newspaper at USC where he has worked since August 2016. In his free time you can find Michael playing soccer or hockey or catching up on television and reading bucket lists. Favorite TV shows include The Deuce, The Sopranos, The Wire and Better Call Saul; favorite writers include David Simon, Scott Raab, William Gibson and Rich Cohen. If he wasn’t pursuing  journalism, Michael he says he would likely be an engineer for New York Central Railroad back in Erie.
