SABEW welcomes Jenny Paurys, news desk manager at S&P Global Market Intelligence, to its board of governors

Jenny Paurys, news desk manager at S&P Global Market Intelligence, has been appointed to the board of governors of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW). Paurys oversees her newsroom’s coverage of the global consumer staples and discretionary sectors.

Paurys takes the place of S&P Global Market Intelligence SABEW board member Amy Gleason. Gleason was recently promoted to managing director of data management at S&P Global Market Intelligence and is stepping down as she shifts away from news to focus on data offerings.

“It is a privilege to join the SABEW board. Business journalism has offered me a tremendously fulfilling career and I am eager to support further advancement of our industry through SABEW’s engaging networking and enrichment programming,” said Paurys.

“We are quite fortunate and so very pleased that Jenny is stepping up to serve on the SABEW board. Not only is she an experienced journalist, Jenny is also a respected team leader for S&P Global Market Intelligence. Her organization has been very supportive of our work, including by providing tremendous assistance during our past two conferences,” said Mark Hamrick, SABEW president and senior economic analyst, Washington bureau chief, Bankrate.com. “As she steps away, we wish Amy enthusiastic congratulations and heartfelt thanks for her constructive, intelligent and congenial board service. As she takes on new, added responsibilities, we wish her the best and look forward to her continued involvement with SABEW.”

Paurys’ business journalism career includes turns as a reporter, editor and data journalist. She is also the co-founder of a small writing and editing company that assists a wide variety of clients with their content needs. She is the author of six books, including four on Virginia’s local food artisans.

“I look forward to working with Jenny to advance SABEW’s mission and develop new strategies to meet the changing needs of our members,” said Kathleen Graham, SABEW executive director. “She’ll be a great asset to the SABEW board. Thank you to Amy Gleason for her outstanding service!”
