We are dedicated to protecting press freedom and ensuring journalists are protected while working to tell important stories around the world, especially those now covering the war in Ukraine. SABEW mourns the loss of Brett Renaud who was killed covering the conflict. Our thoughts and prayers also go out to Juan Arredondo, who was wounded in the same attack that killed Renaud. Arredondo is a former Cronkite Buffett Foundation Visiting Professor of Visual Journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, which is SABEW’s home base.
#SunshineWeek, held March 13-19, is a nationwide effort where journalists and citizens pause to recognize that open government is good government.
