Syracuse.com and The Post-Standard are looking for a smart, motivated reporter to help us cover businesses, the local economy and their impact on people. Micron Technology plans to build a $100 billion chip-making plant here that holds the promise of an economic surge and, for us, the obligation to be a watchdog.
A winning candidate should show an aptitude for source development, clear and engaging storytelling in all formats, hard-nosed document reporting, collaboration and a sense of humor. Job Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years’ experience
- The ability to work quickly but with accuracy and good news judgment.
- Watchdog or investigative journalism experience.
- Ability to develop and cultivate sources.
- Good understanding of using social media for research and to engage readers.
- Digital storytelling skills and open mind to trying new approaches.
- Relentless curiosity and a good sense of humor.
- This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
