Scott Wenger is a senior economics editor at the World Bank, where he focuses on economic mobility and development, sustainable business and climate risk.
Previously, Scott most recently managed a content development firm, was an editorial director at Barron’s and a group editorial director at Arizent, formerly SourceMedia, managing six titles, including Financial Planning magazine.
Scott joined the board of SABEW in 2019 and is co-chair of its Best in Business Awards committee, working to expand the contest to include additional news organizations, especially smaller outlets and B2B publications.
Over his career, Scott has managed editorial teams or reported for some of the nation’s top media outlets, including the New York Daily News, CNN, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal and The Hartford Courant. In addition, Scott worked as a healthcare analyst at Alex. Brown & Sons, has been an editor-writer for the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Financial Research and recently passed the Series 65 exam for financial advisors.
Under Scott’s editorial leadership, his teams have won numerous media awards, including for a groundbreaking investigation probing the links between financial distress and military suicide that resulted in congressional action. Scott also was honored for excellence in economic reporting by the Institute on Political Journalism for a series he authored on the consequences of China’s economic expansion. Scott’s professional and personal travels have taken him to all seven continents.
