Our February feature is New York Times’ Diana Henriques
Tuesday, February 15, 6 p.m. ET
Diana Henriques, an award-winning financial journalist, will be interviewed about her legendary career from 6-7 p.m. ET, Tuesday, Feb. 15, for the Legends of Business News conversation series. The conversation will be hosted by journalist and author Larry Ingrassia, who held senior editing positions at The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times. Larry and Diana worked together at The New York Times and they are both recipients of SABEW’s Distinguished Achievement Award.
The event is free to SABEW members and the public.
Henriques, a staff writer for The New York Times from 1989 to 2012 and a contributing writer ever since, specializes in investigative reporting on white-collar crime, market regulation and corporate governance.
She is the author of “A First-Class Catastrophe: The Road to Black Monday, the Worst Day in Wall Street History,” released in September 2017. Henriques also wrote, “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust,” a New York Times bestseller, and three other books on business history. In May 2017, HBO aired its film-length adaptation of The Wizard of Lies, with Robert De Niro in the starring role — and with Henriques playing herself as the first journalist to interview Madoff in prison.
She is a past board member of SABEW and has received multiple awards and honors for her reporting. She won a Gerald Loeb Award in 1999 and was a Pulitzer finalist in 2003 and 2005. Her work has also garnered a George Polk Award, Harvard’s Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting and the Worth Bingham Prize.
Henriques has used voice-recognition software for all her major writing projects, stemming from a 1997 injury, and has coached more than a dozen injured writers at other publications on making the transition to voice-recognition writing.
Henriques conversation is the third edition SABEW’s Legends of Business News series, joining Carol Loomis (watch) and Myron Kandel (watch).
