BIB 2009 – What’s new?

No more paper!

All entries and payments will be submitted and processed electronically. No paper entries or payments will be accepted.

Incentives for entering early!

Entries received on or by Wednesday, Jan. 13 will receive an early-bird discount on entry fees.

SABEW’s new online entry system allows judges to begin judging your entry as soon as they are validated and posted.  For entries received before Jan. 13, SABEW and BiB staff will validate and post within 24 hours of receipt, allowing judges to screen them without the crush that typically accompanies the entry deadlines.

BIB 2009 – Key things to know:

  • Current SABEW membership is required as either an individual or part of an institution.
  • Entries for all print categories must be submitted electronically, in pdf format, through the SABEW Best in Business online entry system. Paper copies will not be accepted for any category.
  • Entries for real time and online categories must be submitted electronically and include a permalink URL. (A permalink, or permanent link, is a URL that points to a specific webpage after it has passed from the front page to the archives that remains unchanged indefinitely.)
  • All payments must be made electronically via the Best in Business online entry system. Fees vary by category type and circulation size.
  • Entrants must be current paid members of SABEW in order to enter the contest.  If you are uncertain about the status of your membership, search the directory under the Members Only section of the SABEW Web site. If you can not find the organization or your name, you will need to join or renew your SABEW membership prior to entering.
  • At least one person who worked on an entry must be a SABEW member.
  • BIB entrants must know the circulation size of their newspaper or magazine, or the average monthly number of unique visitors to their online operations, before starting the submission process.
  • Staff will be in the SABEW office until 5:00 pm CST on Jan. 13 and Feb. 1 to answer questions and provide assistance with entries.

Note: Failure to meet entry requirements or comply with contest rules will result in disqualification of the entry without notification or refund.

Judges

SABEW’s Best in Business contest judges are top journalism professionals including senior editors of newspapers, magazines, wire services, and broadcasters, prize-winning business journalists, respected beat reporters, columnists and journalism academics.
